MY NAME: Laurie Teklits
GOES BY: Laurie
- BSN – Villanova University 2006
Medical School: MSN, CPNP – Villanova University 2011 in Pediatric Primary Care
THREE FUN FACTS ABOUT ME:
- I relocated to Raleigh 3 years ago from Philadelphia with my husband. We now have a son and a daughter who keep us busy. We LOVE Raleigh and sharing our roots from the City of Brotherly Love with all our new friends in North Carolina!
- I can hold my breath under water for approximately 2 minutes and 12 seconds!!!(At least that was my record at 16 years old when I was a competitive swimmer) but I’m not so sure I can beat that record today.
- Those that know me know that I have high energy which is where a lot of my motivation sparks from, so I make it a point to wake up every day and do at least 30 jumping jacks to keep me balanced and start off more calm
WHY DO YOU LOVE YOUR JOB?
I have worked in primary care now for several years seeing newborns to young adults. I have enjoyed every piece of the newborn stage, toddler stage, through the school age years, as well as the rollercoaster ride of the adolescence years. My direct experience with having a chronic illness (Type 1 Diabetes) has impacted me now over half my life. I have found that I can relate to patients suffering from various chronic conditions which has fed into my love for my role and assists me in my diagnostic and management approach.
